Nominees for the 2020 Songwriters Hall of Fame have been announced and this year’s contenders cross all genres.

Mariah Carey, Eurythmics and Beach Boy Mike Love are all nominated again this year, along with R.E.M., Outkast, Patti Smith, the Neptunes, (a.k.a. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo) and Journey. Other performing nominees include Gloria Estefan, Steve Miller, Vince Gill, Bread’s David Gates, and the Isley Brothers.
Non-performing nominees include: the late Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, L. Russell Brown and the late Irwin Levine, and Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan.
- For the record, songwriters are eligible for induction after writing hit songs for at least 20 years. Six songwriters, or songwriting groups, will be officially inducted at the Hall’s 51st annual Induction & Awards Gala in New York on June 11th. Eligible members can vote for three non-performing songwriters and three performing songwriters until December 16th.
