Paul McCartney announced his first autobiography to give fans an intimate look at his life and career through the 154 songs he’s written in “The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present.”
Paul will take fans on a two-volume, 960-page journey from some of his earliest songs, through his work with The Beatles and Wings, to his solo albums, all the way to the present day. The book will explain the story behind the songs, which will be arranged alphabetically rather than chronologically.

“I know that some people, when they get to a certain age, like to go to a diary to recall day-to-day events from the past, but I have no such notebooks,” Paul says. “What I do have are my songs, hundreds of them, which I’ve learned serve much the same purpose.”
