Whitney Houston’s classic rendition of the National Anthem is getting a special reissue in honor of its 30th anniversary.
Whitney’s performance of the “Star Spangled Banner,” backed by The Florida Orchestra, happened at Super Bowl XXV in 1991 and been considered one of the best renditions out there. It went on to be certified platinum by the RIAA.
The original performance was a particularly poignant one since America has just gotten into the first Gulf War at the time. Proceeds from the single actually raised over $1 million for military families and veterans of the war.
The re-release is now a single on streaming services and features an anniversary reinterpretation of the original single cover. Check out the cover here!
