Elton John is a Golden Globe winner. The singer and writing partner Bernie Taupin won the Best Original Song Award last night for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from “Rocketman.”
Elton called the award “very humbling,” considering all of the great artists nominated in the category like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
“It was one of the most emotional moments of my life,” Elton said of winning the award, noting, “it’s the first time I’ve ever won an award with him,” motioning to Bernie, “we never won a GRAMMY, we never did anything together except for this and I’m so happy.”
Bernie also talked about their partnership, sharing, “This is really sweet because this is not just about a song we wrote for a movie. This is a song we wrote for a movie, which deals with our relationship. It’s a relationship that doesn’t happen very much in this town,” joking “a 52-year-old marriage.”
And in another win for Elton, Taron Egerton, who played Elton in “Rocketman,” won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
