ELO’s Jeff Lynne and Blondie honored for POP Music

ELO’s Jeff Lynne and Blondie are set to be honored at the 36th annual 2019 ASCAP Pop Music Awards, set for May 16th in Beverly Hills.

Lynne is set to receive the ASCAP Founders Award, the organization’s highest honor, which goes to “songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators.”

Meanwhile Blondie members Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and Clem Burke, will receive the ASCAP Golden Note Award, presented to “songwriters, composers, and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones.”

Previous Founders Award honorees include Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Patti Smith, James Taylor, Billy Joel and Carly Simon, while previous Golden Note Award honorees include Duran Duran, Lindsay Buckingham, Trent Reznor, George Michael, A Tribe Called Quest, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and Alicia Keys.
